Nathaniel Oppenheimer - Senior Project

Final Blog Post

This week I received two of my papers back from my mentor. I have begun to edit them. I am leaving on vacation tomorrow, but will try to edit during the trip. I'm very satisfied with my project and am completely confident in my ability to meet the formal approval to present date. 

This week

For most of this week, I have been waiting to receive my papers back from my mentor so I can begin editing. I will edit this weekend, the following week, and over the break. I just did my catalog description and sent it in. I'm feeling pretty good about my progress and am very happy not to be too crunched. 

Making Headway

So my Thanksgiving break was very productive. I managed to do a draft of my two remaining papers, which puts me in a good place. I now need to edit and get my work to my outside consultant.I hope to do the bulk of my editing prior to Dec 17, when I go on vacation. I will be able to work on vacation, but I'd rather get most of the work out of the way. I am feeling pretty good about my process.

This week

This week I continued to write my second paper. During the thanksgiving break, I have a lot of work planned. I will try to have a first draft of my project by the end. This will probably be tedious, but I want to keep the schedule I set a few weeks ago. I have my research and thesis, I really just need to start writing.

This week

This week, I worked on an outline for the second portion of the project. I also worked on finding good resources and looking through them. I hope to start writing this portion over the weekend, but I may not get to it. I have a bunch of end  of trimester work which may end up pushing this paper to Thanksgiving break. I still hope to keep up with my schedule, however.

I submitted a budget request and have received authorization for up to $175. Thus far, I have spent about $125, so I have some room to buy a few more books.

The past two weeks

During the past two weeks, I have made steady progress on my Senior Project. I have completed a rough draft of the early america essay, and am now moving on. My plan is to finish the next one by Thanksgiving break, and then the final one during that break. This schedule will leave ample time for editing because I am going away December 17-28. Having a schedule like this will really help me. 

Finishing one essay has felt really good. I really got into a rhythm and the essay really came together. I will now do some research and create an outline for the next paper by the beginning of next week. 

Progress

This week, I continued writing. I have been consulting a variety of sources, including the Encyclopedia of the American Constitution  and An Economic Interpretation of the Constitution of the United States, by Charles Beard. Both of these sources have been invaluable in constructing a narrative about the emerging United States. I have made good progress this week on writing. This weekend I hope to write a significant amount. I feel pretty good about my progress.

By the end of the four day weekend, I hope to have a rough draft of the Early America portion of the project. 

This week

This week, I finally began to write my product. Beginning feels really good, and I really think things are going to pick up. I've done a lot of research, which will allow me to really get rolling. 

Next week, I will continue to write the early america segment. I want to finish this paper in about two weeks in order to keep on track. I think that is entirely doable. I will write some this weekend, and then I subsequently plan to try and write a page per day. I need to get my product to my mentor as soon as possible because many edits are foreseen. 

This week

This week I worked on my rubric and tried to track down an outside consultant. Making the rubric involved paring down the normal CH rubric, which had three separate outcomes for citing sources. With Mr. Aldredge, I came up with several outcomes that will effective grade my product. I also had to change the adverbs that the samples used, as they seemed harder than they should be. 

Finding an outside consultant has been a bit of a challenge. I've e-mailed a couple of people, but have yet to hear back. It's hard to find someone in this field, as it is pretty academic. 

Next week, with my rubric and plenty of process stuff out of the way, I hope to begin my product. That is unless more process tasks are thrown at me.
