For my Senior Project, I wanted to do something that was going to somehow help my own personal journey through life. I have a chronic pain disease called Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome (RSD), also known as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. It has made a huge impact on my life that I have been fighting for almost five years now. I wanted to somehow incorporate the RSD into my senior project. It is not a very known disease and there is no cure. I have always wanted to try to raise awareness so people can try to understand how much of a struggle it is to live with.
At the end of last school year, I contacted The Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome Association (RSDSA) to receive information about hosting a benefit. RSDSA is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization that I will be consulting with and ultimately sending the money I raise to help finding a cure and those who need medical attention that cannot provide the expenses for themselves. I am hoping that through my benefit, many people will come to understand in a way what we go through having an invisible disease.
