Hannah Baker - Senior Project

week six

Last weekend I finished my portfolio to send out to schools! I pulled a lot of pictures from my senior project:

 

 

 

 

 

 

(There are a couple more but I don't want to overload the blog..I'll attach more next week!) I figured that seeing some finished products might be more interesting than contact sheets...from now on I'll post photos that I like through the week as soon as I finish editing them. This weekend I'm going to shoot before dawn with either Miles or Ian using their car lights to light my set (the potato field across the street from the Channing Winery). It'll be a challenge to get either of them to get up before 4 am... :/

Since I wont be posting next week...I'm going up to Yale for an interview (!!). I'll pass Westport (the town where I filmed this video: http://www.vimeo.com/6127504 with midi and the modern dance and took a couple polaroids) on the train, so I'm going to try and shoot there with Will and Katii. The light is Really Beautiful and there are some really interesting marshes in the back of the town...it'll be perfect for recreating some interpretations of childhood memories that are based on events that happened at our house in Washington, CT!

Now that I'm finished with my Yale Application/Portfolio, I'll be able to do 2 shoots per weekend and write a lot more...next week I'll post some excerpts from the personal essays that I'm revising.

week five

I've been really sick this past week which has thrown me off scheduling-wise for the project. I had plenty of time to work on editing digital photos and the writing portion of the product, but no time to shoot, which is what I needed to be doing over the long weekend! Now that I've lost those four days, I'm going to have to really overcompensate next weekend. Luckily, my early action applications are due Thursday so I'll be finished with that and will be able to focus more fully on my senior project for the next few weeks!

week four

I went with Grace and Alexis to Shelter Island last weekend to shoot with my sister, Oona. We spent about 4 hours on the rock in an old barn and field. I'm really happy with what came out of it! It was nice to shoot with someone I felt really comfortable with and had no qualms about directing. One of the challenges of my project thus far is being articulate about what I want in each shot. It's hard to translate thoughts and images into words and back again.

I've been really sick which is why this post is a bit late, which meant I didn't have time to look over the negatives from last weekend's shoot until now. I'm going to print contact sheets tomorrow, some of which I'll post online in my next blog entry!

week three

Last week's shoot went really really well with Miles and Natasha in Sag Harbor, I ended up shooting mostly digital with a couple rolls of film. I had a couple lighting issues so I'll probably redo some of the interior shots. Here are some pictures of the shoot:
