Senior Project Deadlines (12/14-12/18)

Seniors,

 

Many of you missed your blog entry from last week. You have until first thing tomorrow morning to make this up. If you did not submit your catalog entry, today is the last day to do so. If you have not indicated where you are going to be for the exhibition opening, today is the last day to do so. Meeting deadlines is part of your overall process grade.

 

In addition, everyone has their FINAL blog entry due this Friday, 12/18 by 4pm, so make it a good one.

 

I know I've mentioned this in class, but please be in communication with your mentor regarding your schedule over the winter break. Do not assume your mentor will be available to edit your work. All products need to be completed by 1/6 (the Wednesday we get back from break). If your product is incomplete you will be reassessed on 1/19, but no longer eligible for a D, not included in the first round of presentations and not part of the exhibition.

Senior Project Deadlines (12/7-12/11)

Good Morning Seniors,

 

Thank you to everyone who has emailed me regarding their exhibition spaces. If you have not done so already, please send me your top 3 choices of where you would like your product by Wednesday at 4. Anyone who missed last week's blog or did not send me your faculty grader name, please do so ASAP.

 

For Friday, you have 2 deadlines. Your normal blog entry is due by 4 along with your Senior Project catalog entry. The Senior Project catalog is done every year to highlight all of the interesting and diverse products that are created. Below are examples of what your catalog entry may look like. Please inlcude your name, project title, mentor name, domain (s) your product falls in and your outside consultant. Your project description is generally 4-5 sentances and written in the past tense. Please contact me if you would like to see any other examples, or look at last years catalog on the Senior Project Resources page (http://intranet.ross.org/SeniorProject).

The Muffin Top is a short film I produced for my senior project. I used stop-motion animation and live action film to illustrate my original screenplay. It is a story of two beings unaware of each other's existence who are able to interact within their dreams. I focused on the symbolism of dreams and how they can influence our daily lives. I learned a lot about the process of producing, editing, and writing a short film while overcoming many obstacles related tp producing a film and managing a cast. I plan on entering my film in local and international festivals.

Cooking and food have been passions of mine since i was a child. This infatuation led me to choose this project. I wrote a cookbook in which I concentrated on local ingredients to guide the recipes. I developed my own recipes as well as gathered recipes from pertinent local sources; these people are the definition of the local food scene. Each recipe is accompanied by an explanation as to why it was locally relevant. Along with writing and collecting these recipes, I tested each one with the help of my mentor, chef de cuisine Liz Dobbs. For the final part of my project, I am presenting several of my recipes for tasting at the senior project exhibition night.

Senior Project Deadlines (11/30-12/4)

I hope you all had a restful Thanksgiving break and were able to devote a lot of time to your Senior Projects!

 

There is a blog entry due this Friday (12/4) by 4 pm. Some of you missed the 11/20 deadline, so do not forget that this is a weekly Senior Project requirement.

 

This week I would also like you to contact someone to be your faculty grader. This can be any member of the faculty (it does not have to be someone in the domain in which your project falls, but could be if you wanted). Your faculty grader will attend and grade your presentation in January, as well as grade your product. Please get in contact with this person, explain your project and what they would be required to do, and by Friday e-mail me confirmation that they will be your grader.

Senior Project Deadlines (11/16-11/20)

This is a very important week for Senior Projects. It is your responsibility to show your product (what you've completed up to this point) to your mentor by Wednesday (11/18). Your mentor will then determine whether or not you have preliminary approval to present. You will be notified by Friday if you are going to be on contract, and what the criteria will be for product completion by 1/6. 
 
Far too many of you either missed or were late with your blog entry last week. Blog entries are due this Friday (11/20) by 4 pm. You will not have a blog entry next week over the Thanksgiving break.
 
Lastly, remember that your outside consultant needs to review your product a minimum of 2 times and provide you with feedback. If you have not done so already, now would be a good time to get in contact with them. Make sure to document all feedback in your process folio (this is part of your archiving grade).

Senior Project Deadlines (11/9-11/13)

Seniors,

 

If you submitted a budget request last Friday by 4pm you should have received an email from me this afternoon. Please follow the instructions in that email to receive your reimbursement.

 

This Friday by 4pm your only deadline is to submit your weekly blog entry. Please note that if you regularly fail to post a weekly blog or are continually late it will be reflected in your process grade.

Senior Project Deadlines (11/2-11/6)

Seniors,

I hope you were able to complete a lot of Senior Project work over the 4 day weekend. Please come see me if you are in need of any research materials, or have any questions regarding the citation lesson from this morning.

By 4pm on Friday (11/6) you will need to submit the following:

1) Blog Entry (what you've worked on over the past 2 weeks, what you plan on working on next, do you need feedback on any part of your project)

2) Budget Request Forms (these are available on the Senior Project page and will not be accepted anytime after 4 on Friday...please submit these to me digitally)

3) Changes to your rubric (i.e. if you need to add/remove and outcome, change the percentages of your grade, etc.)

Senior Project Deadlines (10/19-10/23)

Good Morning,
 
Your only deadline this week is your blog entry due Friday, 10/23 by 4pm. If for any reason you cannot meet this deadline (i.e. you're on a college visit and don't have Internet access, you are sick and can't get to your computer, etc.) you need to email me before it is due to be considered for an extension. Since you are well into your projects you should have a lot to write about. Included in each entry should be what you've worked on this week, what you plan to work on next and any areas that you are stuck need advice (you could post a sample of your work for feedback).
 
Last week I handed back rubrics to many of you that needed to be updated/corrected. Please work on these with your mentor this week and email me your final version by Friday.
 
Lastly, I spoke to you in your individual sections regarding this, but your formal approval to present date has been moved to Wednesday, January 6. By this date your entire product needs to be complete (if you are on contract at this point it is when you will be assessed). As we discussed in class, the buildings may not be open over the winter break and your mentor may not be available to edit your work so please keep this in mind in terms of product completion. If you have any questions regarding this or any of your other deadlines, feel free to stop by my desk or send me an email.

Senior Project Deadlines (10/13-10/16)

Seniors,

Many of you missed important deadlines last week (rubric, outside consultant and blog). Please note that any late/missed deadlines are included in your overall process grade. If you still need to make any of these assignments up, do so as soon as possible.

This week you have a Wednesday (tomorrow, 10/14) deadline. You need to email both your mentor and myself a "progress report". This should be a paragraph describing how you think you are doing overall in Senior Project up to this point.

Lastly, you have another blog entry due Friday by 4...what you've worked on this week, what you plan on working on next, and areas you're stuck/need advice.

Senior Project Deadlines (10/5-10/9)

Good Morning Seniors,

 

Many of you either missed or were late with your blog entry for last week. Please note that this will be reflected in your process grade. Also note that this should be 1-2 paragraphs explaining in detail what you did over the week, what you plan to do next and any areas of your project that you may want suggestions/or are "stuck". Your next blog is due this Friday by 4pm.

 

Also due this week are your final rubrics. Remember to input your new outcomes in the Product Rubric Template (available on the Senior Project resources page, http://intranet.ross.org/SeniorProject) and email to me by 4 pm Friday. If there is a specific student rubric from the past 3 years that you would like to look at, please send me an email and I will forward this on.

 

Your outside consultant information is also due by 4 pm Friday. Please email me their name/contact information.

Senior Project Deadlines (9/29-10/2)

Good Morning Seniors,

 

This week your only deadline is your 3rd blog entry (due by 4pm on Friday, 10/2). Make sure to include what you've worked on this week, what you're hoping to work on next, and any areas that you need feedback/advice.

 

Today I am also going to send you sample rubrics from each domain. Please review these with your mentor during your weekly meeting. You are going to adapt the outcomes so they best represent your final product. If there is a particular project from the past 3 years that closely resembles your product, please email me that students name and I will forward their final rubric. A blank rubric template is available on the Senior Project resources page. Your final rubric will be due next Friday, 10/9.

 

Please note that your outside consultant information is also due on 10/9. This is someone who is going to give you feedback regarding your product a minimum of 2 times before you finish. This does not necessarily have to be someone in the local area, but someone you can communicate via email, etc. If you're not sure who you can work with, please speak to your mentor. You will be emailing me their name and contact information by next Friday (if you already have this information ready you can send it to me now).
